Gaurav Sawant is an Indian News anchor and journalist. He is currently working with India Today as senior executive editor.
Gaurav Sawant is son Chitranjan Sawant. He is an alumnus of the St Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He started his career with the Indian Express newspaper as a crime reporter in 1994. He covered Kargil War from Kargil, Drass, Batalik area. He wrote book on Kargil, Dateline Kargil, which was published by Macmilan. Gaurav joined Star News in 2002 as a TV Journalist. In December 2007, he was awarded Wings by the Indian Navy and has done 5 para jumps at INS DEGA at Vishakhapatanam. He has also done one assisted free fall and one tandem jump with the Indian Navy. He joined Aajtak and India Today Group in 2008. He has covered conflict in Iraq, Libya and Egypt and UN operations in Sierra Leone and Lebanon.
In 2020, he became the first journalist to reach Daulat Beg oldi and program at DS DBO Road during the India-China border stand off. He is currently working as Senior Executive Editor, India Today TV, and anchors India First weeknights 10 pm on India Today and Desh Ka Gaurav weeknights 8 pm on Tez.
